🧬 Prognostic Nutritional Index (Onodera PNI)

Assess nutritional/immune status with the Onodera Prognostic Nutritional Index.

Prognostic Nutritional Index (Onodera PNI)

Albumin (g/dL)
Total lymphocyte count (cells/µL)

When to use

Predict surgical and oncologic risk from albumin and lymphocytes.

How it works

PNI = 10 × albumin (g/dL) + 0.005 × lymphocyte count (/µL). Values below ~45 indicate higher risk.

Key points

  • Lower PNI links to more complications and worse prognosis.
  • Cut-offs vary by tumour and population.
  • Easy to calculate from routine labs.
