🩸 Mean Arterial Pressure (MAP) Calculator

Estimate Mean Arterial Pressure (MAP) from systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Instant, browser-side calculation.

Mean Arterial Pressure (MAP) Calculator

Systolic BP (mmHg)
Diastolic BP (mmHg)

When to use

Bedside estimate of perfusion pressure. An arterial line gives the true MAP.

How it works

MAP ≈ DBP + (SBP − DBP)/3. A common resuscitation target is MAP ≥ 65 mmHg.

Key points

  • MAP < 65 mmHg suggests inadequate organ perfusion.
  • The 1/3 estimate is least accurate at high heart rates.
  • Targets are individualised (e.g. higher in chronic hypertension).
