Diastolic BP (mmHg)
When to use
Bedside estimate of perfusion pressure. An arterial line gives the true MAP.
How it works
MAP ≈ DBP + (SBP − DBP)/3. A common resuscitation target is MAP ≥ 65 mmHg.
Key points
- MAP < 65 mmHg suggests inadequate organ perfusion.
- The 1/3 estimate is least accurate at high heart rates.
- Targets are individualised (e.g. higher in chronic hypertension).
