🫀 Systemic Vascular Resistance (SVR)
Estimate afterload with systemic vascular resistance (SVR).
Systemic Vascular Resistance (SVR)
Mean arterial pressure (mmHg)
Central venous pressure (mmHg)
Cardiac output (L/min)
When to use
Characterise shock states from haemodynamic data.
How it works
SVR = (MAP − CVP) / CO × 80. Normal 800–1200 dyn·s·cm⁻⁵.
Key points
- Low SVR suggests distributive (e.g. septic) shock.
- High SVR suggests cardiogenic/hypovolaemic shock.
- Interpret together with cardiac output.
