🫀 Oxygen Delivery (DO₂)
Calculate global oxygen delivery (DO₂) from cardiac output and oxygen content.
Oxygen Delivery (DO₂)
Cardiac output (L/min)
Haemoglobin (g/dL)
SaO₂ (%)
PaO₂ (optional) (mmHg)
When to use
Assess adequacy of oxygen supply in critical illness.
How it works
DO₂ = CO × CaO₂ × 10, with CaO₂ = 1.34·Hb·SaO₂ + 0.0031·PaO₂. Normal ~ 950–1150 mL/min.
Key points
- Integrates cardiac output and oxygen content.
- Below a critical threshold, consumption becomes supply-dependent.
- Often indexed to body surface area (DO₂I).
